standout tunes on this collection are : play me, canta libre, walk on water, solitary man, cryin in your pretzels, and red red wine (way cooler than ub40's version). i discovered a lot of songs i hadn't heard. before this i was only familiar with the big hits. I think this is the first neil diamond cd i actually bought. pick this disc up, you won't be disappointed now that i am older and after a few listens of 'hot august night', i can honestly say i am a neil diamond fan. when i was a kid, my dad liked (and still likes ) neil's music, and i thought it was wack. a lot of great tunes on here the band sounds great.
Remastered and sounds awesome. Classic Neil Diamond with two additional tracks the original release didn't have.
The recording sounds better than it did before and it really showcases Diamond as a showman and the AMAZING backing band that helped to make this a must-own set.I'm generally a rock and roll kind of guy, but I still love this timeless album. Listening to the remaster after all these years is pretty impressive. 5 stars for sure. If you're a gen-x'er like me, your parents had this record and you probably heard it many times. If you're a boomer, you bought it when it came out.Even for those that may not care for these kinds of pop stylings, it would be tough not to love this record.
His voice is still strong after all those years, but this DVD is a real treat. Out of all singers and song writers, I do beleive that Neil Diamond is one of the top 10 great musical genius's.
Hot August Night has become a collector's item. He loves to write, and as he says, "he must write", so we are the lucky people to be able to hear his songs from long ago, and even now, how he has become even better, and his music has grwon with all of us.
Neil Diamond is amazing, amazing and amazing. This music of course has become the favorites of all his fans and have brought him such love and fame and attention to his song writing skills.
I am so glad I got mine. This early concert at the Greek theatre in Los Angeles is a marvel to hear.
I was not in the audience at that time but I could feel the beauty of the show.
Reflects the singer-songwriter's creativity, musical prowess, stage presence. I hear this first at at party in DC when it first came out in the 70s. Required listening. Timeless, sounds as good today as it did then. What a celebration, what a party, what music. It's just terrific, has broad appeal, makes you want to get up out of your chair and stay there.especially Soulaimon.
